Jojoba - Simondsia chinensis - Native to northern Mexico, upper California, New Mexico, and Arizona. A long lived shrub (some as long as 200 years) with leathery blue-green leaves and greenish blooms used for hundreds of years by native Americans to treat a wide array of disorders including cancer, kidney ailments, colds, obesity, poison ivy, warts and wounds. The plant is adaptable to many climates and soils, but seems to prefer a slightly alkaline, sandy soil and will produce seeds in approximately 5 years. Hardy to 30F (-6.6C); height: 10ft.
