MANUKA

Tea Plant, New Zealand Tea - Hardy to 10F (-12.2C);  Does best in a sandy loam, well drained, in full sun.  Excellent container or greenhouse plant.  Grow in full sun or partial shade in warmer climates.

Manuka  - Leptospermum scoparium - Tender perennial - Culinary, Medicinal - Pretty shrub native to Australia and New Zealand with narrow stiff alternating leaves and white, five-petaled flowers about 1/2in. in diameter. Immigrants to New Zealand commonly boiled the leaves as a substitute for tea. The Maori used the tea for treating kidney & bladder complaints and the common cold.

 Atlantis - Pretty cultivar with double red blooms.  Very striking small tree or shrub.  Height: 8ft.
