Royal Poinciana (Flamboyant Tree, Flame Tree, Peacock Flower) Delonix regia - A truly beautiful deciduous tree with a slender central trunk, a large umbrella shaped head and fern-like foliage (rather like an Albizia). The tree bears large bright red blooms and may actually flower more than once a year in warm climates.  The many blooms mature into large seed pods containing small seeds.  It is a very fast growing species, sometimes as much as 5 feet per year, and extremely drought tolerant.  Hardy to 40F (4.4C); height: 40ft.
