Handkerchief Tree (Dove Tree, Ghost Tree) Davidia involucrata - Related to the black gum and the dogwood, this lovely deciduous tree has coarse, simple heart-shaped leaves and bears lovely white blooms in the spring that resemble a bird in flight.  Hard to find in cultivation.  Growth habit is pyramidal when young, growing into a rounded form when older.  The tree prefers a moist well drained soil in full sun and should be protected from harsh winds in cooler climates.  Hardy to -10F (-23.3C);  height: 30ft.
