RussianSymphytum x uplandicum - Perennial - Culinary, Medicinal - Large fuzzy leaves are in abundance on this herb used since ancient times.  Spikes of purple or white flowers bloom in June, and are attractive to bees and butterflies.  Leaves can be used as poultices to treat bruises and swellings and to repair broken bonesEasy to grow in almost any soil.  This variety has a high content of allantoin (a compound that stimulates cells to multiply and promote healing) and protein, which makes it a good animal fodder.  Medicinally, poultices are most commonly used as the plant contains alkaloids that make internal use dangerous.   Full sun or partial shade;  plant height: 3-5ft.
