Calceolaria

(Plant heights are given at maturity)
Calceolaria or Slipper Flower (also Pocketbook Flower) is a tender perennial native to Chile and Peru belonging to the Snapdragon family, Scrophulariaceae. With a long history of cross breeding, a line of plants is now available with brilliantly colored blooms which make excellent summer annual, container or greenhouse plants. Calceolaria prefers well drained slightly rocky soil in a bright sunny location.

Plants may be propagated by sowing seed. Seeds should be sown in pots, trays or a bed prepared with a soiless seed starting medium (1 part sphagnum peat moss to 1 part sand is fine). Sow the seed and cover lightly. Maintain temperature at about 70F and keep the medium moist, but not soggy. When seedlings reach 2 inches in height, transplant to larger containers or, if outdoor temperatures remain above 55F, you may set the transplants in an outdoor prepared area.

Cinderella Mix - A mix of bright colors on short compact plants. Full sun. Height: 8 inches
