Brachycome or Swan River Daisies are compact dwarf annual plants belonging to the Daisy family, Compostiae. They are native to Australia. Daisy like blooms are borne in profusion in variety of colors.
Propagarion is best accomplished by sowing seed. Seeds can be sown either directly outdoors when the temperatures remain above 65F or started early and transplanted. To sow seed directly into the garden, prepare an area with finely worked friable well draining soil. Sow one seed every 3 inches in rows 14 to 18 inches apart. Once the seedlings emerge they should be thinned to one plant every 6 inches.
If transplants are wanted, seeds should be sown in pots, trays or a bed prepared with a soiless medium (1 part sand to 1 part sphagnum peat moss is fine) and covered lightly. The medium should be kept moist, but not soggy at about 70F. WHen seedlings reach a height of 2 inches, they should be transplanted to larger containers or directly outdoors, if the outdoor temperatures remain above 65F.
